The Death of America

A few of my friends have been sweetly and generously encouraging me to the “reality” that America is not dead. These are people I care deeply for, but I completely disagree with them.

The truth is that this country, as we’ve known it since the days of the Pilgrims, exhaled its last breath on November 6, 2012. If you cannot see that, then it’s probably true that you don’t consider The Bible to be true, the Inspired Word of God. Because that book begins with a very familiar (I hope) story that involves just the kind of death I’m talking about.

Remember the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden? Those were the only two trees from which God forbade Adam and Eve to eat. Why? Because if they ate from them, they would surely die. But after they ate from the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they were still alive for hundreds of years. So, did they really die from eating that forbidden fruit?

Yes. They died, not once, but twice. The first death was the instantaneous death of the sinless spirit that God had put in them when He created them and breathed life into them. The second was their bodily death, which took much longer because they had been perfectly made in bodies that were supposed to last forever. But the moment sin entered into them, the corruption began until it finally put them in their graves.

Like Adam and Eve this nation was blessed by God from its inception. By the 1600’s, all of Western Civilization had been shaped by the very strong Judeo-Christian ethic that has been transformational from the time of Jesus. Christians from European countries were the first foreigners to land on the shores of this continent, settle it, and devote it to The Lord. Their faith permeated every aspect of their lives, so it’s no surprise that the new nation was built with much attribution to The Creator, God Almighty. The very first book to be published by the new nation was the Bible. And it was the new government itself that commissioned it to be printed, at government expense, expressly to be handed out to the citizens and schools of that day in order that they might teach the children how to grow up to be good and Godly citizens.

While this country was officially “born” at about the time of the Age of Reason, the Judeo-Christian ethic was predominant within. We obviously weren’t a perfect union, but God’s blessings were still on us. However(imho), the seeds (ideas) that resulted in the deadly harvest that we saw on Nov. 6, 2012, were produced between the late 1800’s and the 1960’s. The watering and tending of those seeds began in the ‘60’s and have culminated in a culture that is the complete opposite of the republic that was formed by the founders of this nation. Now the Spirit with which God blessed this nation has been removed. That is so obvious that it’s hard for me to understand how people can NOT see this.

It’s just a matter of time before we reap the “physical” death, as a nation. But it is coming, folks. The oppressive policies against the freedom of Life should be the most obvious for anyone to see. Since 1972 we have been allowing, by law, the unGodly shedding of innocent blood to the tune of more than 55,000,000 babies! And as far as our freedom of Religion is concerned? Well, within days or weeks we will see an increase in the government oppression of Christians and Christian organizations over things related to Obamacare mandates that require everyone to pay for abortion, abortifacients, etc., regardless of our religious consciences. The issue of gay marriage is another issue that assuredly will result in oppression of Christians. It’s already happening, so with this last election, the “winners” have become hardened, and now emboldened to do more against us than they have done up to now.

The real HOPE AND CHANGE that this country needs is Jesus. May His people fall on their faces and petition Him for the healing of this nation!

Amen.
